The Sixth Grade Keyboarding Program consists of five lessons using Word Wacker, a keyboarding software application, installed on the computer lab desktops.   Each lesson contains five elements:  a review of keyboarding technique, a warm up, flashcard practice, paragraph practice and a timed exercise.  The primary focus of the program is to reinforce proper keyboarding technique and to increase typing speed and accuracy.   Each lesson will take 30 minutes in the computer lab but may be extended if desired.  The program will be taught to all sixth grade LSR7 students over the course of the year by the classroom teacher who will determine the scheduling.  It should be noted that the program will be most effective if presented within a month’s time.  Teachers are encouraged to use the SMART Board to present the PowerPoint lessons.
